Why you gotta be so mean?
I was wondering what would make my laptop not pop and click when I have a lot of plugins on, or even while recording. maybe more ram? faster processor? does dual core matter?

Well, all of those things would certainly help, but upgrading a processor in a laptop isn't really the easiest thing to do, so you may want to try freezing/rendering tracks and disabling the plugins on them as you go along.

well actually, im thinking about getting a new one. what brand processor is better for recording pentium or amd, dual core or single? and is it worth the extra money to get 2 gigs of ram instead of 1?

You haven't told us any specs of your current computer or what software you're using. But if you're thinking of getting a new one......
Anything dual core is fine, but the Intel Core 2 Duos generally perform better than the AMD Turion X2. 1 GB RAM should be fine unless you have a lot of virtual instruments going at once. If at all possible, try to stick with Windows XP or Mac OS X. Windows Vista is generally not good for audio production just yet, and you would definitely need 2 GB RAM. Also, recording to an external Firewire 7200 RPM hard drive will allow you to use many more tracks.
