Slapback Delay from Waves Multi tap

Could anyone tell me how to get a slapback delay for vocals using the waves multi tap delay plugin please? I have no idea of what settings to use. Or is there any easier way?

Big or small slap back. Most slap backs have a short delay time with odd times on either side. Do you have access to a tempo/delay chart. that would be a very useful tool for programming your delays and such.

Example Left delay of about 70ms and right delay of about 40ms is a tight slap back.

Thanks for your help. I'm looking for a Lennon type slapback. I don't have a tempo delay chart but it sounds like a good idea. Where could I get hold of one?

What bites is i made my own chart in excel and lost it a few years back, thank goodness i printed and laminated it.

Here is a rudimentary page. You can make your own in any spreadsheet once you know the formulas. Mine goes from 40 to 160. From 1/4 notes to 1/1024 of a note with Triplets and Doted notes. Also inclues LFO Oscillations and bar times (Movie thing)

I have waves multi tap, dosen't yours have a button to click to set the tempo? You can also enter in a temp next to the tempo button. There's also the sliders that have numbers by them (+1, +4, etc) that's where the next delay will play. You also have to activate the delay by clicking the button to the left of that slider. If you don't want the delay as loud you can change the volume of that delay with the box next to the activate button for that track. Hope that made sense!

Use the dang preset! I believe it's titled "Slap Elvis" or something like that.

From what I've read on Geoff Emerick (Beatles engineer) and Jack Douglas (Double Fantasy album) this was done via a tape machine. If you can get a reel to reel, try sending the track to the tape machine and feeding back the output from the repro head. Adjusting the tape speed will allow you to control the delay time. According to an article from Douglas this was done at with a 30ips machine that was cranked up using a variable-speed oscillator to close to 60 ips.
