Hey y'all

Does any one here purposefully "PUT ON" accents when they sing to create a certain sound, or is your singing voice a natural extension of your speaking voice??

I have to say that I (and most australians) put on american(ish) accents while singing although this is sometimes referred to as a worldwide singing accent.

Where do you stand on this topic?

YORKIE,

I have been told many, many times I sound British.

It is completely unintentional.

I know loads and loads of vocalists who put on a slight american twang when singing, including myself to a degree. I guess the californian type accent is quite a melodic one......

As long as it sounds good, I say go for it.

Yeah... remember one of my song posted in the clinic months ago ? They say the way I sing

"..Don't die.."

sounded like

"..dun die.."

But the song is great anyway.. :D

That's just "Don't Die, Clementine", right?

I love that song! :)

Shephard, that reminds me of the king of the character voice singers, Tom Waits.

I try to sing like I'm NOT from Texas, but it's not very convincing.
