I recently installed a Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 in my pc. I'm using a Delta 1010. The problem is that I cannot hear my initial recording in real time. I am able to hear the sound after I record an initial dummy track. Is there any way I can set the record/play simultaneous sound. I have the options/audio/advance tab/simultaneous record/playback window checked. I still cannot hear in real time. What can I do? By the way, I get this problem with Cool Edit Pro and Vegas Pro as well. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I am not on my "recording" computer at the moment, so this is from memory. Go to the software mixer that came with your Delta 1010. Click the tab for patchbay settings. Try changing the setting for the "source" (i.e., 1/2 or 3/4, or whatever input you are working with). I think you have to set it to Hardware Out 1/2, rather than Wave Out 1/2 (or vice-versa).

Generally I think you use the Wave Out for simple playback and the Hardware Out when recording.

Another approach would be to set the playback to another pair in Cakewalk. Go to Track Properties in CW and if your recording source is the 1/2 pair, then change the Port setting to a different pair (e.g. 3/4).

Typically I find that if the Source and the Port are set to the same pair in CW, then you have to change the patchbay settings of your M-Audio mixer to Hardware. If the Source and Port are set to different pairs, then you won't need to alter the patchbay settings.

I don't know how well I explained this, but hopefully you can figure it out.
