Hi, I've learned some stuff today, and I think I am ready to ask a serious question. I am looking for a digital recorder only (no studios), that records on media aside for mini-discsive (I've been informed that the compression used can degrade sound quality). The removable media thing is a must, because of transportablitly to other pcs, and other limitations. I want to do some editing on a computer, so im looking for a pretty bare recorder, 6 or 8 tracks, that has features like bouncing, and MAYBE doing multiple takes of tracks, but thats about it. Have anything in mind?

~thanks

The only thing I can think of that matches your requirements is an ADAT or something simular.

I don't fully understanding your concern over removeable media because unless you use something like ADAT, no one else is going to have a machine to stick the media into, and you'll have to haul your recorder around anyway. Maybe you want ADAT?

I don't know anything about it, but the Tone Works Pandora PXR4 is a tiny little recorder with removeable media.

About the simplest digital recorder I can think of is the Boss BR532, but the media is not removeable.

...oh sorry, those last two are 4 tracks. The Boss BR8 is 8, though.
