I am a guitar player (well I try anyway) who has just begun to record on a PC. I am also a single parent with a very small budget. I need a device to convert the signal from my amp to line level so I can get a decent recording. I am currently looking at one of the small Behringer mixers, like a UB802. Which I can buy for less than $60.00. Is there another device for about the same money that would perform the same task and do a better job? Less noise, etc. Remember, all I want right now is to get good guitar sounds.

That little Behringer mixer is probably a good way to go - for now. Later on, when you have a sense of the bigger picture, you can start upgrading your components. But I think getting yourself up and recording asafp is muy importante.

get a behringer small mixer. do NOT spend a lot of money on it because in time you will want something better.

however, do also do not not NOT get a Phonic mixer (another, even cheaper brand). they're behringer copies and junk.

the small behris are a great way in, i own one myself which is fine for what it does. good luck and come back to tell us how it goes!

And, if you have the money, go for the Yamaha MG series.

The MG 12/4 looks mighty good...

WTF are you guys talking about?

Mixers are looking for either MIC or LINE level.

They're damned sure not looking for guitar level OR an amp speaker output.

You gotta either mic the amp, use the amp's LINE OUT if it has one, or use a DI box direct off the guitar and into a mixer or preamp.

What about the Berry Mic100 pre-amp could be just what u need.

This will work as a DI box for either the guitar direct or amped up using the pad.
