simple home recording(the cheap way)

I have a audio/mic mixer, alesis drum machine, yamaha djx keyboard and a dual tape recorder...is it possible to use this equipment thru my sony laptop? using the laptop as a digital track recorder itself? if so, please tell me what programs of freeware i can use to accomplish recording in my bedroom setup

Pro tools 8 tracks freeware, don't have a link right here, but do a search for Pro Tools and you'll find it. Don't know what else there is of freeware .... I've heard of goldwave, never seen it, so I don't now if it's multitracks

protools free...has a bit of learning curve...you may want to try one of the other free ones....Quartz has a free one thats pretty easy, but not as powerful as PT.....

hitsquad is a gold mine! i was using the quartz freeware for a while thats pretty sweet only a four track though..

p.s. The one problem with using a laptop is the slower hard drive speed. , but you could still use it for recording.
