Hi, I'm completely new to recording so I need some very basic but important advice.

I have this clean sound here and I need to know what you guys think about it.

Me, I think its weak a little bit but don't know what to do to get it a little more character. I just spent 3 hours trying to mic up my amp, trying to get a decent sound but failed. I play a USA Fender Tele into a Fender Blues Dekluxe re-issue. I go into a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB into Fruityloops.

It's miked with a Shure SM57 so the equipments right, or right enough. I've tried up close middle, going on to to edge of speaker cone, further back for more ambience. I think it could be my amp settings but I'm not sure.

The settings on my amp are volume,2 - treble,9 - bass,4 - mid,6 - presence,6.

I have read that while a sound might not sound good in isolation it can be just right in the mix. I don't have a mix yet so I'm tending towards getting the best clean sound I can. The monitors I have are KRK Rokit 5's so I'm hearing it right. I just wonder if you guys can give me some general pointers here.

Thanks for your input, Ste.

If you are looking for a simple clean Fender sound, I think you've got it. You can't judge it by itself if you are going to put it into a mix. Go ahead and record everything and then see if it fits.
