Mmmkay so yah got a microphone and a preamp. Now you want to record the sound it makes. What are some different things you can plug these into to record the sound. So far I know a minidisc player and a computer. And it should be cheap.:)

M'kay, . . . yes that is a silly question. . .Have you ever tried reading anything on this BBS, or do you just post silly questions?

You could make a special plug to plug it into your cell phone. that way when the guy calls to ask if you can hear him now you can deafen him permanently.

YES, I can hear you now.

Someone delete this thread.

I wish they made something that could record a few mics at once. Maybe some day in the future. I might try to rig something up.

I wonder if I started a bunch of MD players all at the same time if that would work? I could call it a "Many Channel Recorder".

Apparently, if you fire up enough MD's at the same time, you will eventually hear "Stairway to Heaven".

Oh your so elite with all your recording knowledge. but i really dont know about all the different tools for recording. which is probably why i came to a recording bbs to find out;)

just stick the mic and the pre near a cassete tape and sing away. then you can play the tape in your tape player.

Uh oh.....is this a hint of attitude given without the "flame protection" of the Newbie lounge?

I think I'll pop some popcorn and wait for the fireworks! :D

thats lame i just want to know what machines can record. BTW a cassette player would sound like shit.

If you can't read a FAQ or do independent research then you're never gonna be able to learn how to record anything.

If you wanna know what technology is available go to a Guitar Center or check out the online vendors.

Try a Google search. Type: "I need to find a clue".

...it's a pretty safe bet that any machine that has a record button on it is capable of recording............ next question?

Cheap? Do you wish to record multitrack? Here's a link. There's a lot of options out there, there's a lot of helpful people around here, but you need to be more specific in your questions, what are you planning to do in the end?

People here are more than willing to help those who show a genuine interest in learning, and not just throwing out very silly general questions that waste everyones time (although it can be amusing sometimes)

Look at posts by "Dumass", he admits he knows nothing, and yet he is always hungry to learn more. He asks specific thoughtful questions, and he asks them in the right forum.

Does this make any sense to you?

thanks for the link on multitrack, heard of it before, didnt know what it was. Yah like what i was looking for was say a list of the different mediums, tools, etc that can record GOOD. I already mentioned that I knew about the minidisc and the computer soundcard. I dont know any online vendors and I would assume the ones out there wouldnt be able to give as good a picture of the full realm of recorders as a simple list could. One mans silly question can be anothers treasure.

What do you think the online vendors do? You think they just put up a list of model numbers and the rest of the world knows what they are and buys accordingly? WTF is wrong with you?

If you can't find online vendors or product information recording isn't for you.

try "hide-and-seek" with the other scamps up and down the block..........

LOL! Good one! But it was actually lame because you are boring and unhelpful! Alright thanks for that, but it looks like after some research most recorders for sale from vendors are multitrack types. For "recorders" that Zounds place didnt have info on stuff like portable minidiscs or computer stuff or any other techniques, which is also what I was after.

What were your other 72 posts about? Doesn't seem to have got you very far...

How about ya'll cut him some fucking slack?

You can use Cool Edit 2.0
Or if you don't wanna go comp, you can buy a recorder from 8thstreet.com or musiciansfriend.com

4track recorder, etc etc etc

Get the latest Musician's Friend catalog and lock yourself in the bathroom for ~1 hour so you're wife/girlfriend/parents won't bother you. Read the about all the products. If you have specific ?s on a product, search the posts here or ask us (preferably after you're done in the bathroom!)
