signal skipping when recording!! :(

basically, im using reason 3.0, with cubase sx and a tascam interface. the problem im getting is that when recording i keep getting skips in the signal! i tried altering the buffer and latency, and although the skips have become less frequent, its still there. its a pretty decent laptop!! and i never get this problem when recording on my desktop!

any ideas?
