Signal Chain?

Hey folks!

Just got back from a whirlwind trip to the states! Pick-ed up a few goodies while I was there. need some help, again.

Does anyone have any good primers on hooking up equipment in a signal chain. Just some basic web info, if possible. I got a Crate PX600DP Mixer/Amp, and a couple of Shure mic's. The Crate docs are pretty lame. Just need to know how to hook up my marshall combo and korg efffects pedal to Crate then to computer. If someone has any sites / links with pictures, that sure would be sweet!

oh, and i got all this stuff for free from a relative who had no use for it in her karaoke bar? Crate is almost brand new! Have found out that is is discontinued, though

i tried to do a search for the CRATE PX600DP and couldn't come up with much... i'm trying to see what type of mixing board it is...

generally you can do this:

if your amp has a direct out (it will say "direct out" or "line out") you can then plug that into an "IN" on your mixing board and then use the mixed out's on your board and run that to your delta.

Just make sure you don't run the speaker out's to the board, that will fry the inputs on the board. Always stick to the line levels when routing things to the board, and the board to the recording module....

that's all i can say without seeing any of the manuals...

*note: try to get familiar with your mixing console before doing anything else... learn what ports do what, and how to control the AUX busses (if it has any) and how to control group busses (if it has any).

Thanks for info. I only found 5 links to the amp on google. I did find a link to a .pdf file that describes the basic inputs and outputs, but it very vague. Have gone over them repeatedly. Pretty sure I know what goes where. If you know of any more info I could check on general connections, please let me know.

Seriously don't connect the speaker outputs ... that's bad news.

What you can do, if there's only speaker outputs, is get a pair of Behringer DI100 D.I. boxes which will transform your powered outs into line levels for your soundcard.

OK. This thing is a powered mixer/amplifier, and has got line in / line out. It also has BNC conections for tape in and tape out. Would it be best to use the tape out jacks into my soundboard or the line out?

yes, that's how I have my stuff running now.

guitar > korg > soundboard

what I really want to do is try to record through mic and amp.
