I have been reading a lot of the posts on this site and others looking for this, but haven't found it.

How do These mics stack up against eachother

Shure Beta 57A
Shure SM57
Studio Projects B1

I've heard endless praise of the SM57, But is the beta better?
Of course you ask, "well what are your intentions for the mic?"

I plan on using it for recording amped guitar/(bass?) vocals, and acoustic guitar(and any other stuff i might make sound with!).

Mainly what are their strengths/weakness of each:
(rate them out of 10 if you like for each category)

Which one is the best mic for amp
Which shines when used to mic an acoustic
Which is best used for voice
And any other things you might want to add

Im looking at the beta now, so paying more for the mic does not concern me, im not interested in the price difference, just quality.

Also is there any other mic in this range i should be looking at for recording???

Any information or opinions or advice would be great.

Stay tuned next week for "Which mic preamp should i buy!!!"

You're talking about 3 entirely different applications.

But from the Shure Line:
Best mic for amp - Shure SM57
Best mic for voice - Shure SM7B
Best mic for acoustic - Shure SM81

You can go a long way with those 3!

How much can you spend there?

If you're looking for a workhorse you probably won't be able to go wrong with either an SM57 or a B1. I haven't tried a B1 myself, but there are threads and threads of praise for them. The SM57 is a standard as you probably already know, just make sure you have a great pre to drive them or it might not sound as spectacular as you want it to.

Choose one and get recording!
