Shure SM7b would work with Eleven Rack?

The SM7b is always described as needing lots of gain so my question is.
Would it work with the eleven rack to track vocals?
 
I haven't tested it, but I'm sure it would. If the volume is a little bit too low you can always compress.
 
No clue. A review of Digidesign's website makes damned little mention of the mic preamp at all, and gain specs and signal to noise ratios are simply not available. I would email Digidesign and ask them how much gain the mic preamp produces. If it's less than 65db, I would look for a different mic. There's no doubt- this thing was designed for guitars, and the mic input is an afterthought. It'll definitely work with some mic, but the SM7 probably wouldn't be my first choice, as a guess.-Richie
