I'm looking to only get one dynamic microphone that sounds great and works for my applications which require avoiding loud handling noises, durable, good off-axis rejection in the field.

Should I get the Shure SM58 or the the Blue enCORE 100? Would the enCORE 100 give too much handling noise?

Also, for home recordings could I just use that same dynamic microphone or should I also purchase a decent condenser microphone?

Don't wast your time ..... look for a good used Beta58 that will cost you about the same as a new 58 and you'll be much happier. ;)

What are you going to use the dynamic mic for?
Also, what different instruments and etc do you plan to record in your studio?

The Shure SM57 is a decent "live" dynamic mic and it also works well in the studio for recording guitar amps, percussion and more. In fact, it is a standard item found in the mic "lockers" of many recording studios.

While there are many "Studio" mics available out there to choose from, I'd suggest you read all of the "sticky" threads at the top of this Mic Forum by Harvey Gerst and others to begin educating yourself on the topic of microphones.

PS-Having a good microphone pre-amplifier is just as important as having a good studio mic. I recently bought a new Focusrite ISA One Pre-Amp/DI for well under $499 and recommend it highly as a nice "first" mic preamp.
