Suck 'em and see!
anyone tried them for this aplication?

I live in the UK and the set of shure mics (2x PG81, 3x PG56, 1x PG52) bought from the USA with postage is 3 times cheaper than buying them in the UK.

As a drum package they look ok but has anyong used the mics on other recording applications/situations? How does the pg56 fair on guitar amps? is the pg52 any good on bass amps or woodwind? will the pg81s double from overheads to acoustic guitar?

Thanks for your comments in advance

Alec.

I've owned SM94s which as far as I can tell are basically the same as the PG81s as far as response, and they're good for acoustic. A bit less so for overheads, I like a little more high end response. There must be some reason the 94s cost twice the PG81s, but I don't know what it is from the specs.

It seems very similar to the Shure BG4.0, (and 4.1) which I have used on acoustic. Believe it or not, upgrading to an SM81 was a smaller upgrade from the BG than I thought it would be.
