Shure PG58

Is this a good mic for beginners? I allready got 4 and they respond to my needs. But is there a big (like really big) difference between the PG58 and the SM57/58? Otherwise I'll buy SM57/58's next time...

Since you are a beginner and you like it. Then yes it is a great mic for a beginner.
 
i personally thing there is quite a big difference between the PG 58 and a real 58. the PG has alot of proximity effect, and alot more handling noise. less high end too. but on the other hand, it is better than other cheap mics out there, so if you like it then no worries.
 
I have a PG 58 and I think it's a great begginner mic to be used on stage. My only comlpaint is the ring with the PG 58 stamped on is on my mic has already cracked afer only a few months of use.

Oh well, maybe I need to get my singer to stop swinging it by the cord, what do you think ? :D

I have 4, and 1/4 is broken, some plastic wrapping I think. Dunno :) It's doable to record, so what's the problem? ;)
