Are these decent for kick?

Someone is offering a pretty low price on one, and I need a kick drum mic.

What do you think?

Eh, I'd almost rather see you go with almost anything else really. The pg's are crappy and while useable you'll never use it again once you get some decent mics. If you're getting it really really cheap, like 30-40 bucks go for it but if they want any more than that then you should check out used d6's, beta52's, or d112's. BTW the d6 also works surprisingly well for more aggressive vocals, especially screamo type stuff.

thanks

after posting this i broke down and bought a beta 52, i'm sure it will do what i need. never thought of using it for vocals, we have mostly screamo style lyrics so i may try it.

you probably won't like it much at first on vocals, but they usually sit in a mix perfectly.

40 bucks can get you a superlux fk2 which is a pretty good kick mic i would stay away from the pg52. if you look around long enough you should be able to find some samples of the fk2 its nothing impressive but it a solid clean sound which is much more than can be said about the pg52 or go look for a used d112 beta52 or d6

edit: opps just notice you said you bought the 52 (didnt think it was the same poster) the 52 could work for screaming probably pretty well cause it will hold up just cut the bass a little or if you doing deathmetal screaming i would assume it would work well also. in all honesty kick mics dont make the worst vocal mics the extra bass gives the singer a more powerful sound (ive used my d6 some for singing)

....

Sennheiser e609 for scremo. Only $90-120, awesome for the app.

I use one when playin glive, and it works and sounds wonderful for metal atleast
