I want the sound to be as close to uncolored, unaltered, what goes in is what comes out

(for what can be acheived at this price point (secondary disclaimer: I realize that I'm not going to get the same results as a professional recording studio is capable of, as I don't know anything about recording technique, and because my budget is limited))

It depends on the voice for whether the equipment will have good synergy. Many times I've read this here from people who sound like they should know. I'm not looking for something that will sound good. Just as uncolored, accurate/realistic as I can get.

currently I've got a v67g > presonus tubepre > emu 1212m

If you're interested in a grace 101, I have one for sale in the gear for sale forum here.

The Shure / Grace combo should do exactly what you're looking for.
.

id say the AT4050 is as clean as a whistle..and because of the multiple patterns, more useful as an allrounder....It is a fantastic microphone, and can hang with all the big boys.

as for pre....DAV or Grace...DAV is of the clean variety too, but adds a little "sheen" that is great...either will do though..just different. do a search here and then decide..sonicalbert owned a grace as well. I have too, but im not a fan, so I wont comment. ;)
