So I am thinking of investing in this condenser as I hear very good reviews out and about. This is a little over my budget (300-400 pounds), but I don't mind splashing out if it is going to give me the results that I am after and offer Shure's durability. I am looking for a microphone that I can maybe call my main choice for vocals (not heavy rock voices) and acoustic guitar. I hear this has a really honest frequency response with a nice high end sweet spot. Can anyone talk me through any past experiences with this microphone and/or recommend any others in a similar price range that I should keep my eye on?

I have two of the entire KSM line of Shure microphones. They are great! Really liking the 44 (multi pattern) :thumbs up:

As for recording acoustics guitar though ... you may want to check out a small diaphragm condenser microphone. You may get better results. The 137 and the 141 (again multi pattern)

Moresound------------In the thread about owning just one mic, there were a lot of votes for the 44, do you agree with that?

It would be within the top five for me.
Then properly go down the scale in the top 15 if money was no object.

Andy, another nice microphone line quite comparable for le$$ is the Studio Projects CS Series.
Also like the AT4050 quite a bit, but the CS5 is more flexible (EQ switches) and costs less too.

Thank you all for the feedback! I will take it on board and check out some of the recommendations!
