What's the general opinion about the Shure KSM-27 mic? Is it worth having or not? Also, what is the best orientation to use it (or any large capsule condensor mic); a) vertical and under the chin singing slightly over it, b) vertical and upside down at about forehead height and singing slightly under it, or c) horizontal and off to one side singing slightly past it (all of the above with the mic aimed at the lips). Thanks for your information.

I think it's a very under-rated and often overlooked mic that sounds very good for the price.

As with any mic, play around with the positioning untill you find what best fits your voice or that of your talent. Bring it up higher towards your nose if you want it to sound brighter or more mid-rangy. Bring it down more towards your chin for a chestier quality, move in closer for bigger/fuller, move back a bit for tighter/clearer.
