I have 2 large dia. cond. (SP-C1 and Rode NT1a) for recording and a EV 767a for live. (ok, it's in my home only--Folk/folkrock acoustic guit/vocal solo stuff)

I've seen people use the 87a for live. What do you guys think? Would it also be a good addition to my recording mics as well. I thought condensers (like the 87a) were not good for live stuff

Thanks for any help.

Alan

The Beta 87a is a condensor designed specifically for live vocal use. There are a few competitors out there (Rode S1, Sennheiser e865, Neumann KMS104/5). I personally think that is a fine stage mic. As for recording, as with any mic, it will work on some things and not others. You'll just have to experiment and see how it behaves for you.

Thanks for your response

Bubbag,

Thanks for your response. I was hoping that the Beta 87a would be good for recording acoustic guitar (like a small diaphragm condenser) as well as live vocal.

Your website and songs are realy good !!
