Shure Beta 58A feedback issues

The singer just bought a Beta 58A and we are now getting
feedback. We are going through a Mackie CR-1604 to the PA.
We are a using a couple 58's for backing vox with no problems.
When we run the Beta direct into the PA there is no feedback
but we've been recording our rehearsal's so we need to run
it through the Mackie.

Can anyone give me some insight or tips?

I don't get it. It used to go to the 'pa' but not to the 1604? Or now it's going through two mixers?

Yes, it used go to go direct to the PA before the we got the
Mackie. We are also running a Harp, Key's and Backing vox
through PA that's why we are using two mixers.
The first mixer (16 channel) runs out to an 8-track
for recording (live performance) keeping everything on it's
own track. Then from the first mixer it to the second (PA) for
jamming. The PA does not have a seperate output for each
channel which is why we are using two mixer's.

I'm just wondering why is there feedback from the Beta 58
but not from a SM-58. All levels look good on the Mackie
and the recorder but we can't get a audible level from
the PA when we are jamming.

I don't think it should feed back more than a 58. I use a beta 57 after using 57's for years and haven't had a problem. The betas are hotter though maybe the volume is simply too high.

...No eq on the 1604's beta ch. that's feeding the pa?
Like 'philboyd said, there a little hotter than the old mic's, so the gains will be different.
Just curious, are you going pre-fader/eq aux mix out on the mic's to the pa? That would give you seperate record levels, eliminate the 1604's ch. eq to the pa, and still give you a 'pa mix' on the mackie. ..one way to do it. Might not even need the second mixer, maybe just some monitor eq, to the amps? (when in doubt, simplify...?)
