I have a Shure Beta 52 microphone. The part that you twist to tighten the microphone into place no longer tightens the mic into place. The rubber seal got twisted somehow and broke. Has anyone ever had this happen or have knowledge on how to fix this problem? The mic works perfectly but positioning is a real headache now. I would hate to spend $100 having it repaired by Shure all because of a little rubber seal. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm dealing with the same thing right now. I just stuck a piece of foam in there temporarily. Best bet is to go to an automotive or hardware store and look for some o-rings and gaskets.

hmm thanks for the advice. I suppose wedging something will work as a temp fix. Does anyone know how to actually disassemble this portion of the mic?

You just back the thumb screw out and the two pieces will separate. Be mindful of the main wire connecting the two. I found a nice o-ring set at Napa today, there's a few in here that I think should do the trick much better than whatever the hell Shure put in there before. Just a heads up.

thanks...I should have thought about reversing the thumb screw. Geeze sometimes I surprise myself at how un-resourceful I am lol.
