I'm working on a song with someone and when he mixes down the same song its at least 10MB (MP3) but when i do it its only 4-5MB (MP3)

does the higher the file size mean better audio quality

also what is the best file format for a song? MP3, WMA etc.

It just means he's using a higher bit rate than you are. The higher the bit rate, the less compression (so it's truer to the original WAV file) and thus the bigger the file.

What's the best file? Depends on the purpose. If you wan't a million songs on an iPod in your pocket--you'll need to make mp3s. If you've got room to spare and are really concerned about audio quality, leave 'em as WAVs.
