Should I upgrade mic?

I currently use an Audio Technica AT4033 for vocals. I'm wondering if it would make a big difference to upgrade to a Neumann TLM 102. I have an FMR "Really Nice Preamp" and the FMR "Really Nice Compressor". I'm using a Korg D16 Hard disc recorder.

An additional question: I may add a TC Helicon VoiceTone Correct Pedal. Will that be the weak link, and make it not worth it to get the Neumann?

I don't know the the mics but for crossing paths with the AT a few times, but as their both capable of doing a quality job, unless you're zeroing in on some specific tailored fit that the thing does better on, wouldn't likely be a case of 'slightly different, but not necessarily better' change? A lot of this stuff is like that; doing very well but a slightly different flavor.. but of what you put it on, and how you place it.

The other version is yes, you should get and have some other mics (as you can..) and see where they land for you.

Ok, that's interesting. I take it your thinking of adding it into your recording path?
(No opine, other than the standard 'when in doubt leave it out' (That can apply to a simple path is clean(er)' and, it can also be better to leave stuff like that to mix time.

Thanks CatHouse.. It sounds like it might not be worth the money to get the Neumann. You are right; The AT does a great job. I was just wondering if the other would be a huge improvement. I think you just saved me $700!
