Should I move from a MIDI to USB controller?

After a 6-7 year break, I'm getting back into music.

I need a controller keyboard - so it's either get out my tiny 2 octave BassStation, or my 20 year old Roland S-50 keyboard, then screw around with PSUs and MIDI leads.

OR buy a cheap usb keyboard - something like the M-Audio 49e.

My old Roland has a beautiful (and massive) keyboard, but it's a monster, as is really too big to have anywhere near my computer. The BassStation is small, but crap.

Is there any reason to avoid the move to USB?
I'm using VST/SX on XP Pro.

i would go with the usb if your you have experince with computers some times they tend to be headaches, if your just using it as an controller i would definely go with usb

Done. I just bought an M-Audio 49e. Yeah it's cheap and nasty - but so am I.
