Should I get this guitar?

I own an original, and its a double edged sword. If this has the three-bolt neck, take it to the shop and have them sink another bolt in behind the plate in the middle of the other three bolts (you won't see it, but you WILL notice a definite change in neck bend). I love the way it sounds, very nasty. Its one of my favorite guitars, but it is pretty different than the new ones. I've played a few and they have pretty big necks compared to mine. Also, the new ones I've played play HORRIBLY out of the box, so if you could buy locally go to a place that gives you a free setup. They're cool!

The two humbucker model is the Deluxe.

The one humbucker model is the Custom.

Both were originally available and are available as reissues.

Damn, look at that price! I bought mine probably 4-5 years ago for what his starting bid is. I can't imagine paying $3000+ for that guitar...

I know man... Shit's crazy. But look at the prices people pay for a single preamp or EQ section form some old board.

neck bend? neck bend is in the neck, not in the connection to the body.

the three bolt models are notorious because they're supposed to be fragile, you won't notice a thing while playing them though. (OR slamming someone in the head as keith richards once did with one)

Good call, Kenny... I was thinking about G&L's and Buffalo Brothers, too.

But for the money, you can't beat the ASAT Premium Tribute's. They've been blowing them out for around $400 for a few months now at Buffalo Brothers. The Fender Deluxe reissue is Korean made just like the Tribute, if I'm not mistaken. But G&L has better quality control, USA-made G&L pickups, and you get a custom G&L gigbag included for free.

Better guitar, better price, free gig bag... it's a no-brainer.

You must've misunderstood me, or I wasn't clear enough. The necks aren't as stable where they connect to the body on the three bolts. As to not noticing when you're playing, I've gotta disagree with you there. Maybe because it was an old guitar it was loose, but the damn thing was horrible until I sunk another bolt underneath the plate. Do you own a three bolt or have played one?

I have a 1980 G&L F100 with a 3-bolt neck.

The guitar is as solid as anything out there, period.

I've been pushing and pulling on the headstock to bend notes and dive harmonics for 27 years with it and it's still dead on perfect.

i've never liked teles, mainly because of the headstock. but that one is just gorgeous. anyone have any experiences with them? i've read mostly good things but i'd trust you guys here over any review site.

thanks.

Personally, I say, if you like it, get it. There are probably other guitars that are 'better', or 'better for the money', but I don't think it's going to be a POS.

If that's what floats your boat, go for it.

I've got my eye on yet another Squire Tele. I know, I know, but it looks so cool!

It was the neck on a Tele Deluxe that made me fall in love with the feel of a Fender neck many years ago. Unfortunately, by the time I decided to go for it, it was gone already. I did get a sunburst Strat with the same maple neck however and its been my baby ever since.
It would be nice to try it first though- :)

Hey, looks like a cool alternative to that les Paul Special of Zaphod B's that he probably won't ever sell anyway. You could probably change the tone cap and get the tone to darken up if need be.
I say go for it-it looks great!

Ahhh- I wouldn't take that piece 'o crap of his if he gave it to me!

Did that sound believable?

I didn't think so. :o

And even though they'd both be p-90s

An LP Special and Tele are two different things to me. They just inspire different moods and attitudes. And rock 'n roll is all about attitude. :D

I've played several Telecaster Deluxe and Customs, and if it wasn't for already owning a Squier Fat Telecaster and Ibanez Jet King, I'd be looking to buy one of each.
