Should I get it. I use a Tascam portastudio so you know my sound an't the best... I was thinking about getting the 264. That is the model that is mono. That's brings up another question, is the stereo alot better than the mono?

Frank-
what do you currently have in the way of rack and effects? I would not necessarily answer "no" to your question, but there are several things your money can be better spent on.(i.e. EQ, compressor, effect unit) BTW, I DO have a BBE 464. But I DON'T use it for recording.

you certainly are wanting to dive right into this aren't you? :) Get a compressor first. A Behringer or a dbx can be had for $150 or less new. When I did the fourtrack thing i would only use my BBE on mixdown, So yes stereo is a lot better cuz that's really the only place you want to use it. The signal chain on mixdown was, four-track, dbx compressor, BBE, to tape deck. I still use my BBE in my PA setup, it makes my crappy speakers sound better. It's a love hate thing with the BBE and me, it's effect is a "wow" on playback systems, but really after long periods of time the effect drains the ears. For cassette though you can get a deceptivly fuller sound with it.
