Should I get Pro tools 9?

I'm new to computer recording and have never done it. I just got a Mac Book Pro (2010 reburbished unit from Apple website) And I got the Focusrite Sapphire Pro 24 DSP interface. The software that came with it is an Ableton live 8 lite version which seems primarily for DJ and loops but they do have a multitracking section. I have not figured it out yet and it does seem kind of confusing but I have not really dove into it though.

I am a singer songwriter type, play guitar and have an older Korg Triton keyboard from the 1990s but mostly sing and play electric guitar and can play some keys.

I want something for multi tracking and song writing and perhaps some creative sounds. Should I get the Pro Tools 9 despite me being a newbie to this DAW world?
 
Nope.

It's great, don't get me wrong. I use it, and i currently have a copy for sale too,

but my honest opinion is don't buy it unless you have a specific reason to buy it.

Ableton will probably do to get started, or download reaper.
It's free for a period; The same period that it might take you to find out you hate recording :)

I'm a Pro Tools lover and I agree. It's not very intuitive for the beginner. Start with Reaper and graduate to Pro Tools later. :)
