Should I get an Echo Mia or an Audiophile 2496?

Hi.
Im planning to get a new sound card for X Mas, and was wandering what I should get.
Im looking for the one that works best with Cubase SX and Reason.
Which one has the lower latency and performs better?
I just want to record my POD playing along backing tracks.
I have a P3 1000, 256 Mb of Ram, 40 Gb, and Windows XP Pro.
Also what other cards should I consider for that price range?
thx

hey

Hey im using a echo layla 24/96 with my pod and it sounds awesome...ive also used the echo mia and it totally rocks as well. For the price and quality go for the echo...plus the echo line, in my opinion, has better drivers than the audiophile

Echo has some of the best spec's out there. The line is not the most popular but if all things are equal (as far as ins and outs) I would go with the Echo if the price is right, I have a layla 24/96 and it has been rock solid. and in comparison charts when you get down to the real technical stuff, Echo stacks up with some of the best.

This has charts on several sound cards. look around at the site.

I do not think is has the audiophile though. You will see all echo/Event products are near the top of the list though.

I had problems with the audiophile, But bought the Mia and It's been fine. I use the optical input mostly. I'm sure the anolog is fine as well. May want to think about getting some more RAM eventually. I'm loving cubase sx.....
