I just bought a mic of around 70$. It came with a xlr cable.
Now my ques. is should i buy a mixer or pre amp or should i invest in a good sound card as i'll recording all my work on my computer?

And if sound card will the quality be equal to the mixers?

None of the above.
An all in one interface is definitely the simplest solution and almost certainly the best in terms of sound quality.
What mic did you get?
Is the cable XLR at both ends?

No one end is xlr which fits in the mic and other end is a thick jack much bigger than the 3.5mm one

Hi there atifkt

It would help you, and help us to help you, if you kept your questions in one thread...like this thread...instead of posting new threads with similar/related question in other forums here.

It sounds like you are new at this, so the Newbies Forum is the perfect place for your questions, and by keeping the discussion in one thread, it will be easier for you to follow all the different suggestions. :)

Ok, what you need to do is get an XLR to XLR cable, and a simple one or two channel audio interface like the ones listed in your other thread.

Broadly speaking, jack inputs on modern gear aren't for microphones. They're more likely to be for line level or instrument level, which is different to mic level.
