Here it is

I'm going to be using whichever computer I buy with a Firepod.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Muchly appreciated!

Personally I wouldn't buy a piece of shiny shite from Staples... we have history if you know what I mean;)

I appreciate that feedback.
What would you recommend if you were to recommend something?

Hey man! Since you're just over in London, I'd definitely make a run over here to Toronto and check out the College Street shops - you'll get a way better price and they won't try to sell you the SuperDuperGraphixMegaWiz2000 card that you don't need....
Maybe try www.apluscomputers.ca or www.factorydirect.ca first and then work your way to the smaller shops.

Thanks for that. And thanks for naming yourself Dr. Biscuits.
Obviously I need a firewire connection and a generally fast computer.
Is a 5400 HD going to be acceptable?
I'm a little confused about what type of soundcard I should be getting. Can I get a soundcard when I buy the thing that will be acceptable for my use?

Buy a desktop dude. a 5400 rpm is going to be tough to record on. i would prefer firewire audio interfaces. look at the presonus ones. i would go for the Motu ultralite. its a great tiny interface!

Fair enough but I really need to make this setup portable so a laptop is really what I need. I'm having a hard time figuring out what will work though.
Any suggestions at all are welcome.
Thanks again.
