hello everyone this is my first post on here and i just have a question im a first time mac buyer and i was wondering what mac should i go with for my music and video production i had to two in mind the imac or the mac pro and im on a budget because theres other things i need aswell .
i was either going to buy the mac pro used from macs4u.com they have a 2.26Ghz 8-Core Nehalem and you can customize it with a 8 to 64gb ram and a 1 to 3 tb hard drive and add a 2 year extended warranty and a option to run Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion priced at $2,738.00.

my second option was to buy the imac 2013 27inch from the apple website with a 32gb of ram and 1tb hard drive .

im stuck between a rock and a hard place right now my budget is 3500 i was wondering which one i should go with
im running protools 10 ,fl studios after affects ,premier pro and photo shop can you guys help me out and tell me which one should i go with please ?

Honestly both are going to do everything you need. The macbook pro gives portability. I don't do any video editing so I don't have much to add there.

The advantages and disadvantages of the two are obvious.
What isn't obvious is how much they matter to you.

If you don't care about upgrading GFX or internal hard drives and there's not much in the price (taking into account a screen for a macpro), then go with the imac for sure.
I expect imac resale value will hold up much better than that of the mac pros, but that's just speculation.

As I understand it, the 2009 mac pro still slightly outperforms the newer imac.
If that little edge is crucially important to you, the decision is made.

Also, if you go Mac Pro, have a think about purchasing and fitting your own upgrades.
Ram+HDDS can be had locally or online for much cheaper than apple or other dealers will sell you them.
Fitting them is child's play.
Maybe think about buying the machine from classifieds or ebay too. There are some mental bargains on mac pros these days.
