Ok .. simply put, I have owned lots of crap I decided I want to stream line One mic, back track and one laptop with a mono input. Simple set up for the kids and I am done.

One problem I have it chorus balance. Chorus hits, vocals drop the bottom end. I want to do this quick and move on. Is there a simple teq where I can do it with adjustments or should I upgrade to value software with level control to deal with this problem.

- Quiet parts, the low end is fine. Loud parts the bottom drop because they are farther from the mic. Got it?

Cool

Thanks all!

Sounds like you are talking about proximity effect which is true for most mics - the closer you get the boomier or bassier you are. Simple solution - tell the singer not to back off the mic when recording. You can take care of volume during mix down.
How to make it happen: use a pop filter and tell the singer to stay right on it.

You can handle this a few ways.

The problem stems from the fact that microphones have a different frequency response when you are right on them. This is called Proximity Effect.

Typically you would want to have a vocalist back off a mic that has a strong proximity effect during recording, so that you have as flat of a response as possible when tracking. The tone can then be shaped after the fact with EQ or compression.

If you REALLY dig that proximity effect sound, you could individually track each voice one by one while the person sings ON the mic to continue to retain the proximity effect. Rather than having ONE TRACK, you would have MANY tracks that you would then mix together as if they were one.

You could adjust the gain to accommodate the multiple voices and have them ALL sing right on the mic to retain the effect.

Or you can automate EQ to keep the low end where you want it as they back off the mic, although this completely changes the tonal character of the recording, and probably can't be fixed with just some EQ automation.
