Hey all,

My Ernie Ball volume pedal has been giving me a lot of trouble. The stupid little string that connects the pedal to the POT has given up several times and now, the potentiometer has given up as well. This thing is a pain in the ass to work with.

Bottom line,...I want something else. Not going to fix it again, saying no to the DIY solutions...what are you using for a foot controlled guitar volume control....what do you like about it...what don't you like about it.

Thanks!

Morley Pedals

I've always had very good service and results from Morley pedals. I have used them with guitars and keyboards for many years and never had a problem with a single one. I recently bought a vintage Morley Black/Gold Volume Wah on ebay. Total with s/h charges was $41.00. It works perfectly. They are built like tanks and will take about anything you throw (or stomp) at them. You will probably like the regular volume pedals as well. They are all metal and chromed. Another great thing about Morleys is you can download schematics and owner's manual for just about "everything" that they have "ever" made. My Black/Gold Volume Wah was discontinued in 1990 but they still have all the information in PDF on their download site. In full disclosure, I haven't tried any of the newer models so I can't really speak about them. But I don't need too as I have had flawless service from vintage Morley pedals. Good Luck, Dave:)

I have a Boss one, think it's called an FV 50? It's cheaper than the Ernie Ball and works for me, you can all set a minimum volume on it which is very handy.

Thanks gents...that Morely is looking good...looks a bit beefier. I'll see if I can kick one around at GC this afternoon.

All I can say is that I hope Morley no longer uses a photo cell for the volume control. I had an older one that used that method and had a mechanical curtain that raised to stop light from a light bulb from reaching the cell-and ran on AC power as well. It was an engineering/production fluke as far as I was concerned..the curtain would wear out and volume would stay on full-----hopefully that circuit has gone the way of the dinosaur!

That's my gripe with the EB...mechanical failures. When it works, it's fantastic. Opto-coupled just seems to be more hassle free.
