hi, im fairly new to the recording side of music.

ive recently bought myself a laptop, EMU 2020 mixer (comes with Cuebase LE) and Cuebase SE 3.

my problem is, ive looked through the book that came with Cuebase SE 3 and read the Help PDF files that come with both SE 3 and LE and the Mixer.... and yet i still get a buzzing sound through my headphones and when i play back the recordings.

the book says its something to do with buffering but ive gone through all of them and still its not changed in the slightest.

my other problem is, when i connect my mixer to my laptop and plug in my guitar, i get little shocks from the strings... again ive looked through how to set up everything and im sure i shouldnt be getting shocked like i am...

can anyone please help me?

Sounds like a ground problem. Are you using 2 prong or 3 prong? Are you using a surge protector or power conditioner? Are you sure that the ground is hooked up right in the wall?

Great investment is a couple bucks on an outlet tester form Home Depot. Especially while you are just getting set up with recording gear.

hey thanks for the reply :)

erm... do you mean the plug when youre on about the 2 prong or 3 prong...? if so then it would be 3.

i dont have a surge protector or power conditioiner... but the ground is definately fine hooked up in my walls.
