I bought a used 4050 and don't think it's going to come with a shock mount. Is there anyplace online I can just buy that? It's discontinued at Musican's Friend. Is there a different mount that will work in place of it?

I think you are looking for the AT8449 shock mount which fits the AT4050, 4040, and 4033. B&H Photo-Video has one for $99, although it's listed as a special order item. Is the shockmount discontinued at Musician's Friend or by the manufacturer? Audio Technica shows one on its web site (http://www.audio-technica.com/guide/other/misc/mounts/index.html) but this may not reflect current stock.

PS: I like the AT4050; I'm not sure I care for the mount, however. The mic is basically held in place by a rubber band! Considering the price of the mic, I hope it's a good piece of rubber!

I am actually bidding on an older looking at8441. It looks like it is made of metal instead of rubber. Hopefully I can win this one.

If you can find one, get an AKG H100 shock mount. It clamps to the connector stem on the mic for a secure fit, and work with any of the other mics that are layed out in a similar fashion (AT3035, 3060, SP B Series, etc.) I have a two that get used all the time.

I'd like to find the form fitting foam that goes inside the case for the 4050. I got one that came with the case, but had no foam. How do I keep the mic from rolling around inside the case without the foam? Where do you get the foam?

They do come with a shockmount new. Hopefully, yours still has it.
