Hello ,
I just picked up an AKG perception 120 and need a shock mount for it. Does anyone know if the Nady SSM3 will work with this mic?\

Thanks in advance

I don't believe so. The AKG 120 may be a wee bit to big in the girth to fit.
Besides a shock mount for the 120 screws onto the end of it.

Dude, when I was looking, I just did "pencil mic mount" and picked up a couple of decent ones under £10 each for a pair of Perception 150s (pretty sure it's the same size?)

Nope, the 120 is a LDC in the style of its bigger brothers 220, 420, etc. These mikes sport a screw attack at the bottom, to which the mount is screwed. I don't know if some spring-clip universal mount would fit.
Mr Baldy, I recently got myself a couple of them on eBay: since I don't know if such links are allowed within the forum, if you send me a PM I can tell you what I got.

Go ahead and link it! ;)

Those are nice! I don't think that they will fit the AKG's though.
The AKG's are a funny shape - an elongated egg shape fatter on the top address end then tapering down towards the XLR connection end.

Well, the cited shockmount is declared to be compatible with the AKG Perception 820 tube microphone.
Nevertheless, the 820 is more regular in shape than the smaller brothers (including the 120), I mean it's cylindric almost until the bottom, while the other become thinner from the half of the microphone downwards.
Anyway, maybe clipping the mic with the shockmount right below the small switches could do the trick.
I am waiting for these shockmounts to arrive (it's a matter of few days): then I can test them on my Perception 420, which is supposed to be the same shape as the 120, and give you a feedback. ;)

I'll wait right here till I hear back from you. :D
Here I am!
The shockmounts I ordered arrived today.
I tried to stick the 420 into one of them, but the result wasn't exceptional: although one can fit the mic by forcing it into the shockmount, the mic's weight makes the mic lean toward a side (thanks to the elastic suspension).
To make a long story short: I wouldn't recommend these shockmounts for a Perception 120... :)

Well, I did recommend the Rycote USM - it's definitely the best for the job and doesn't use elastic bands.
