shielding in monitors

I'm planing to get some good monitors- I'm leaning towards 20/20's, but musicians friend has Alesis point 7's for $179 right now, which really has me tempted to go ahead and order. I've heard the Events and I liked them, I haven't heard the point 7's yet though. (hopefully I can get down to Mars to hear a pair, but with my schedule it might be awhile)

I'm also thinking that since the point 7's are shielded and I'm tracking and mixing on the computer, they warrant further consideration. So how important is shielding in this situation anyway? If I get the 20/20's and stradle the computer monitor with them what could happen since they aren't "shielded" (they aren't, right?- or at least I havent read anything about them being shielded) I have heard Alesis Monitor ones and didn't really dig them to much, how do they compare to the point 7's? The point 7's also are a good working size for the desk that I'm on- I'd have to really move some stuff around to fit the 20/20's up here- of course my situation is temporary so I don't want somthing that's good for me now, and later wish I had something else. hmmm... man I wish I could take the day off tomorrow and see if Mars has I pair...

Hey James,

The Events are sheilded. Some of the earlier models of the 20/20 were not.
