Seriously!

I posted this a long time ago, but I tore it apart and completely re-engineered it today, so it bears a repost for those in need of a good laugh..

This is a song written by noted children's book author Shel Silverstein. He also wrote many wickedly funny grownup books, and bawdy songs, and this is one of them.

My father-in-law Bob is the lead vocalist, and is laying the acoustic guitar and banjo. I, in all my effervescence, and playing bass, the electric guitar, drums, percussion, and I'm doing my berst Beach Boys impression with five backup harmony parts. (We're putting together a folk/comedy duo and CD tentatively called "Geezerband".)

Some of you may not have heard this one before, and none of you have heard this mix.

If by a wild chance any of you have covered a Shel Silverstein song, this is the thread to post it!

Three Legged Man

Cheers!

This is incredibly authentic. Really, I would never know the difference between this and stuff on the radio, its the real deal. Well done, your dad-in law is perfect for this and the backing stuff is great. 2 thumbs way up.

This was just a gentle and light hearted shot at blkdog7's covers thing... :)

Too kind, man. Thanks. :D I'm trying to get him back in the studio to finish up the CD, we have 5 tracks in the can; dredge up my old and golden Beatles Cover Thread for another example (post 1)...

I wish I *could* get into Cracker Barrel, do you know how?

I've never covered Shel Silverstein, but I've read him--does that count for anything?

I agree with DavidK--this is primo. The song is worth it a piece of music, but then the performance and recording is just killer!

How 'bout a Shel Silverstein cover album? I'd buy it! (And my wife would love it too!)

Hee hee... Thanks to you too... I think I've got my FIL convinced to get to the studo and finish up a CD of stuff like this...

I listened a couple of days ago & didn't get around to commenting soo I've come back to say...
NICE ONE!

....in all respects. Nice Cvr. :D

Thanks much guys! I never get tiured of listening to this song for some reason... I think I went for one part Alabama, one part Beach Boys, and one part Partridge Family with the backup vox, I can't help but laugh..

Awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Absolutely hysterical. Love the banjo.

Yes, it's even produced perfectly. Sounds old but clear. Awesome!

We eat there on Saturday mornings, I could ask a waitress...:D

I have no idea. It's true though, when I walk in there, this is EXACTLY the stuff that is playing. http://shop.crackerbarrel.com/online/shopping/Category.asp?cat_id=34&mscssid=&viewall=true

You're so cute when you're trying to be funny there... :D

I guess it is a good fit though. :)

"Old but clear"... Hmm... I could take that one some places... Thanks my man Rami!
