That SMART guy.
Anyone know of a freeware, shareware or extremely cheap spactrum analyzer software that can work on a .wav file?

I've got a little argument with a friend, he says there is no low in the 'galacticus'(it's all i ever talk about, hehe) song, just very low mids... It doesn't have the same bass-punch as commercial discs. That's for sure. But I was thinking it could be the overcompressing thingy.(putting lame compressed samples on a tape and back to digital...) But I really don't know, so I'd like to check it...

Anyone?

Cool Edit has one.

I have a shareware of CE 96-- I don't doubt that CEPro has a better one, but I don't know what's enabled and disabled in the shareware version.

Incidently, regardless of the accuracy of the analyzer, I've found that checking and thinking in terms of where in the frequency spectrum I'm using up all me headroom has worked wonders for my mixing skills. A new dimension of awareness for me.

Ooooohhh. Thanks! Any volunteers to try them all and tell me which one is best? :D

The links not working Monte

(still wainting for someone to test those analyzers....:D)
