thanks man.

This is kind of like a pesudo band. Just one of a million projects I put together from time to time to just to see if anything sticks. Constantly building the catalog so to speak.

This is actually former people I've worked with in a production setting and just kind of became friends. I just act like I play the guitar and help organize the ideas. :D

Very nice alternative sound.
Nice arrangement, great mix. No nits from me.

Joe :):):):)

wow - i'm really feeling this, in a very unique way. is there any way we could work together on something? here's my project: static line i feel your voice is unique, too bad you live in florida. but before going ahead of things let me know if you think we could work something out and we'll go from there.

hey guys....

really appreciate the kind words :D

JoeyM: I like the sound of that word, "Alternative". Never occurred to me. :D

Outerspacezoo: send me some links to some more material, let me see if I get a feel for the style. :D

great songs! and good overall production.

if they need anything though its a couple dB for the vocals. in my opinion they sound buried and need to be brought up.

i think the overheads might be a little too hyped in the high frequencies, 10k+.
and the guitars might need a little mid-range EQ to give them a little more bite. they sound a little washed out and not well-defined enough for my taste.
a bit more attack for the snare would be nice too.

but all-in-all good sounding songs!

Neither a borrower nor a lender be!
This is a very dense construction but there's good space for the vox - I like the levels - I really like the almost quasi classical bvox.
You certainly have fun when you goof about with your mates - terrific stuff.
Her bones - nicely aggressive intro on guitars - big change too.
My only nit on this song is that the drums don't change dynamically when the song changes - diff patterns but same dynamics.
Did you write these Lee? Amusing arpeggio bit - reminded me of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure for some reason.
Terrific melody & vocal delivery too.
I do have to admit that the bass is a little anonymous in this one.
Really enjoyable stuff - thanks Lee.

nice one!

Hi mate, sounds like nice production to my humble ears...I prefer the bones one to the other, as it sounds a lot more raw and is obviously a real drum sound rather than a drum machine.

I feel the drums are way way way too compressed on bones however. Perhaps ease up on it a little...

Just my two cents worth...I've never mixed real drums so what I know etc

cheers!
ben.

Always good to hear a familiar voice in the mix :D

Yeah, these are my cracks at songwriting...good honest fun!

I think we're at the process of doing the pre-production, writing and selecting from all the songs we've ever dicked around with. From that, I hope to pull together a good 10 song piece. Something Cohesive.

I'm really aiming to put my producing muscle into this, creating a blend of Muse's "Origin of Symmetry" urgent serious vibe and something dancy like the Killer's "Hot Fuss" on the lighter side of things.

Many good points here...including the issue with the extreme sizzle of the overheads. The mixes definitly suffered from over processing, I guess cause of the pre-production experimenting with dynamics vibe. Definitely not aiming to put these songs out professionally.

I hope to hunt down a few favors and find some solid preamps and outboard gear to record the actual thing. Clarity, dynamic, growth...stuff like that.

I think the most important aspect is probably what Bendbones was referring to....emphazing natural performance rather than fixing things up to the grid.

Also, that solid bass. :D I have a modfied sans amp box that will do the trick now. It's almost not even fair. :D

Thanks guys. Helps to have another set of ears on hand.
