I've been using CEP (older version) on my computers for a while. However, a glitch on my laptop has been causing CEP to display a "Device Driver Not Loaded" error. The only way to get rid of it is to uninstall and reinstall. With that pain as motivation, I'm considering upgrading to the latest CEP *or* trying out Sound Forge.

Are there any reasons that you'd choose SF over CEP?

Thanks for the input.

Isn't CEP a multi-tracker? I am not sure because I've never used it...

But I use Sound Forge - and it is not a multi-track application, it's an editor.

It's a damn fine editor, too. But if you're looking for Sonic Foundry's multi-tracker, check out Vegas.

Unless you upgrade to sound forge 6.0, I'd probably stick to CEP. Most of your everyday tasks PLUS multi-tracking. And I've noticed a speed difference between the two as well. SF 6.0 comes with a lite version of vegas audio... but not enough for me to switch. The new CEP is good, but still has some bugs. I used the demo quite a bit til it pooped out on me. But most of the stuff I was doing with it, I can do elsewhere.

Sound Forge has NEVER let me down. :)

It is an awesome editor. :p

Is it an editor only? From the reading I've been doing, I was starting to think it Sound Forge is more than an editor, but also suitable for mastering. True or false?

I downloaded the demo for Sound Forge 6 and am really close to buying it! The main reason I started looking at it was to edit 24 bit wave files, but I am really excited about the possibilties of using it for more than that.
