SEWER/NIGHTOUT w Vision

Only saw the first half--gotta come back and finish later. But I love it. Maybe this is blasphemy here on a recording/audio site--but I think music's appeal grows exponentially when combined well with visual imagery. (I guess MTV thought so too, but that's another sad topic!) It's just so cool to see a whole new layer of ideas happening, adding new meaning (or more meaning) to the song itself.

On the mix itself--I could use more vocals.

You've motivated me to get back to video. (Video--with nice gear!--is part of my day job, so I've got access to some cool stuff; and no excuse for not jumping into the visual/musical swimming pool!)

Very cool!

Wow! A video!!!

The song is great. What an extra treat to have some visuals to go along with it. (In a way, it made it harder to listen to the mix--I guess I can only take in a limited amount of artistic information at once!!)

Listening again, without watching, I think I could use just a little more vox, like WhiteStrat said. And maybe, maybe a little more 'attack' on the bass tone, but I'm not completely certain.

Sounding good, Ray.

Thanks for the comments folks - you're all very kind.
I'm very interested in the comments re the mix; the link below goes to my soundclick music page. the track is fourth from the top. If you could give it a listen & comment on whether it's lacking something - or compare it to the audio on the vid in terms of vocal level and bass attack I'd be appreciative.

The audio strip for the vid. started out life as a wav file that was converted to a 320 MP3 to be dropped into WMMaker. It was then compressed with the vid into flv format for "uploading" (they reckon it could be any format but with Australian ADSL anything bigger than FLV takes hours) & then treated by Ytube (the vid you watched has the suffix &fmt=18 so you ought to have seen better quality & heard some degree of stereo) which, without the suffix renders the vid low quality & the audio poor & mono after which the the vagaries of download, play back etc join the party.
Whitestrat - get into it BUT don't stop recording.
Incanus how do I add attack to the tone? I know what you mean but, apart from re tracking, don't know how to achieve it.
Thanks Greg.
Gerry - the lyric refers to alcohol having an explosive effect on the mind & body but the little bombs look better.
I have to be honest. I spent an hour finding the clips on utub and 2 more assembling them so this is pretty slipshod. When I learn how I hope to tighten the editing & make the synchronization less approximate.

Another fine piece of work from you, Ray!:)
The imagery fits the song perfectly. The song itself has a beautiful dark feel to it, I love it! Recording still sounds great to me, although youtube certainly doesn't do it justice.

Well done!

As others have said . . .an awesome correlation of images to the lyrics. There is real editing flair here!

On video editing . . . some of the images featured proprietary text or logos (e.g. Win news), and I found that these detracted a bit from the overall effect. Maybe you could select clips that didn't have these, or, alternatively, do some cropping to remove them.

On the song: I enjoyed the song, and I agree that it has that broody foreboding mood. Flute solo was great. I thought the vocals were down a bit . . . but not necessarily in level. Maybe they could be injected with a bit more . . . anger? intensity? Something that lifts them more in energy.

Well done!!

Cool song. I think you could give the vocals more presence. You could try hi passing them, then compress hard, would help to get them sitting better
