Why do tube mics use seven pin connectors? Does it have to do with the external power supply? It must be compatible with the standard 3 pin inputs on my mixer and pres, yes?

Yeah, tube mics can have 5, 7 or even more conductors from the power supply to the mic. My NTV has like a 15-pin connector. Don't ask me why so many.
The power supply will have a 3-pin XLR out to go to your preamp.

thanks C7, Thats what I had guessed just needed it confirmed before spending the $$$ on a mic I wasn't sure I could use. Glad to hear I'm not stupid,.......................... just ignorant.
