lol along time ago i asked u all what i should get for recording music and it seemed i kinda went a bit overambitious moneywise lol

so just gonna go for very basic cheap stuff ok this is what gonna get for studio recording

Shure SM58 microphone
m-audio audiophile 2496
m-audio audio buddy

looks ok to me just wondering with u guys is that all an ok and would all work with my computer etc

the audio buddy to the audiophile would be fine except that the audiophile only excepts rcas but you could find a cheap adapter cable that goes from 1/4" to rcas at any local radio shack or gc.

i will be recording vocals and guitar

apparently the audio buddys inputs work for guitar as well as mic so that should be ok? if i put mic in one input and guitar in other same time and record me playing and singing at the same time...

but the audiophile and audio buddy are around 180 together the line6 toneport is about 130. are you looking to record vox and guitar at the same time?

ye i am but ive found the audiophile for £69 and the auidobud for 59£ and the sm58 for 79£

ok but dude i want to record two tracks at once remember and the jamlab only has one input

baaaaaaaaaaaaaa uve confused me lol......why wud i wanna use the jamlab if i had the audio buddy lol u said 'you could use that with the jamlab'

Why would you want an SM58? I'd look for a cheap condensor myself.

lol because i read some reviews of it and apparently is a very good studio mic as well as a live mic :p

'very good studio mic'? ....ok....

Seriously, for little bit more you could get a cheap condensor which will sound a lot better. Look out for a lot of Chinese mics that are getting cheaper all the time and are going up quality-wise. Even Sound on Sound are giving them decent write-ups.

Unless all the material you work on is someone screaming into a mic, a condensor will give you the best results over a dynamic, even the cream-of-the-crop SM58. Other condensor brands that have budget models would be Audio Technica, AKG, Rode.

lol nice man just found that MXL one for cheaper than the Sm58

Hmmm. Out of those two I'd probably go for the AT rather than the other, simply because I've used AT mics, and they're ok for the price.

The mic willl be an important part of your set-up, so don't skimp on the price. The cheapest I'd spend would probably be around £150 here in the UK. I'd look at AKG mics as in my experience they're rock solid. Even the C3000B is quite a good mic, despite being frequently slated. I know studios that use them a lot for vocals, and the recordings I've heard sound good for the price (£130ish in UK).

But shop around, read reviews.
