Setting up the ABM 500 evo iii with my MBP

Hello all.

I am a novice bass player and got into recording recently. I have a couple of videos on youtube of me playing covers, and through time I've been trying to get them better and better. First, I used an old webcam and a USB mic to record, giving poor sound and image quality. I upgraded my webcam to a camera but still ended up recording with the USB mic. I then started editing the recordings to mix the originally covered song into the audio track of the recording, and sync that with the cam feed, and this is somewhat okay, only the bass sounds very muddy (as my USB mic is hardly made for recording the sound coming from my cabinet).

Recently I figured out that my macbook pro has an actual audio input fit for recording audio from an instrument. I've bought myself a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and connected my bass to my MBP using a regular instrument cable (which I guess is unbalanced since it has a tip and a sleeve but no ring) and opened GarageBand to fool around a little. I was quite happy with the results except for the fact I couldn't get much volume out of it all (even with the line-in input recording at max volume and my bass output volume knob turned up to the max).

It was then I figured I should probably connect my bass to my ABM 500 evo iii and connect that to my MBP. The question which brings me here though is how to best go about doing this?
I know the ABM 500 evo iii has a tuner out and a line out, but connecting the line out to my MBP's line in gives a LOT of fuzz. I was wondering if this could be because of the fact the cable I'm using to connect the amp to my mbp is unbalanced...

On the other hand, my amp also has a DI-out (XLR male). Should I instead use an XLR female to 1/8 TRS adapter cable? I'm guessing the balancedness of the XLR out would remove some of the humming, but I don't know if it depends at all on the line-in type of my MBP.

So I guess, in short, it comes down to what is pretty much stated in the title of the thread:
how do I best go about setting up my home recording thing using
a) a passive bass
b) the ABM 500 evo iii
c) my MBP
or equivalently, what cables should I get to keep the noise at a minimum?

PS: side note: I seem to have lost my 230V adapter to power my amp but I found a 250V one. Is it safe to use that one or am I going to destroy the internals?
