I am beginning my first recording project and need some help setting up my effects processor. Right now, I am using an Alesis RA-100 power amp and Alesis Studio One speakers as monitors. My effects chain is currently set up as follows:

POD pro
dbx 166A compressor/limiter/noise gate
Alesis MEQ-230
BBE 882 Sonic Maximizer
VS-1880 Workstation
Computer
Sonic Foundry Sound Forge - for editing and effects
Magix Samplitude - for midi

Is this setup correct, or should I move the effects in my chain around. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dosent the 880 have comp and effects and eq in it? you could get rid of the meq 230 and the bbe and the comp and get a good mic or something. what mics are you using?
heres my chain.
mic>mic pre>eq>comp>effects>tape.
you will want the comp after the eq and bbe.

I just recently found that if you put a good compressor at the END of the chain
it gives you all the control you could ever want. Just sounds tight.
