Setting up Multi Tracks in Cubase

Ok guys I posted this question over in the Newbie and I want to also ask you guys that strictly use Cubase also.
My Son and I are Newbies to this tracking world but seriously do not want to put out junk recordings for our friends.
We are running Cubase 3x through a Mackie 1620 with Firewire into a 2 gig daw. So far we can only record 1 track/channel at a time. Could some one run us through the procedure to utilize our full 8 out potential? If this is a cubase set up issue please explain. Thanks in advance for your help.

For one, make sure each Cubase channel's input setting corresponds with the input you're coming through on the interface. Example: tracks 1, 2, 3, 4...ect inputs should be set to mono-in 1, mono-in 2, mono-in 3, mono-in 4...ect respectively. For the next group of 8 do the same thing with tracks 9 - 16 (mono-in's 1-8 respectively) and so forth.

I'm not sure how your routing is setup so this is really just a shot in the dark. There are a numper of things that could be preventing you from accomplishing your goal. Can you explain your routing setup?

VST Connections tab will allow you to set up pretty much anything as inputs. I have used the 1640 and 1220 for years now and love them with Cubase. Post your setup and we can help more.
