Setting up Aardvark Pro Audio Drivers in Sonar 3???

Just recently downloaded Sonar 3 software.

I pulled up the Audio off the toolbar and see where the general tab, advanced and so forth allows you to change access to soundcards.

Now the problem is...I am offered access to the system's soundcards in the default (minus my Aardvark soundcard), or I have to select the Direct Aardvark as ASOI separate from the default.

I can record no problem thru the peripheral (Aardvark). The problem is, I can't gain access to the Session Drummer.

The system I'm have troubles with is a system we built for our high school. My system at home has the old Cakewalk 9.0 and at home I am able to jockey around if I want to record in on my Aardvark soundcard, but hear drums off the Soundblaster/midi or Omni card and so forth.

I am not seeing any option, or can't figure out at this point how to gain use of my Aardvark card to record my instrument and at the same time have access to the system's card for midi/session drummer/playback.

Seems the answer would be to get the Aardvark Direct card drivers to be seen as one of the default drivers to be available. Any suggestions on this, and apologies if I have not done well explaining the problem.
thanks...

Well, I'm not familiar with Aardvark, does it have internal MIDI synth like SoundBlaster cards? It could be the problem, because Session drumer works for MIDI stuff, IOW, without MIDI device (either internal or external) it won't make any sound.

Certain cards don't have all mode drivers to run. So when you select particular driver mode in Cakewalk, the card won't be listed. For example, my Delta won't show if I select WDM mode. That's because the card doesn't have WDM driver. If you're not sure, then you can check "Always use MME driver..."

Unless something changed with Aardvark's end recently I don't know about, it should have the midi capability.

Again, I use Aardvark's instrument input peripheral and Direct soundcard on my system at home which has Cakewalk 9.0 and have no problem accessing Session Drummer.

Just last night, I pulled up my Cakewalk on my pc at home, checked "Audio" in Options of the toolbar, and Direct (Aardvark's soundcard) was listed among my choices to select along with Soundblaster Live and so forth.

For a number of years, that is until the XP Window version came out, Aardvark bundled their software and peripherals with the Cakewalk 9.0. They purport to have ceased offering Cakewalk 9.0 with the XP as Sonar is more suited for this newer Window's version.

Now they have a cheaper software bundled called Audio Studio 7 Delux...

I'll keep hoping someone has the answer, thanks...maybe I'll check the Aardvark site.
